After two years in the making, I’m beyond excited to finally announce that my self-help book Teenagers, Wake Up! for teens is published and is now out for the world to read.

First and foremost, words will never be able to express my gratitude to those who have worked tirelessly behind the scenes - the individuals who have helped make this dream project of mine come true. I’d like to especially thank those who have supported me throughout my journey, up to this present day. But most of all, kudos to God for getting me here.

This project holds a very special place in my heart. My only wish is for you to enjoy reading my book, as much as I had the pleasure of writing it, and that you find new ways to learn, grow and prosper.

Much love,

Sam x

Just this past Easter, I was invited by different schools around Macau to give talks to teenage students in order to motivate them. I have so far spoken onstage in front of 1,000 students.

During my talks, I would share my story and experience with bullying, but most importantly, I raise awareness on certain topics that teens go through as a generation, such as peer pressure and how to regain self-love.

The thing is, I still can’t fully process this. I used to be so ashamed of who I was. I hid my identity. I hated myself and what I stood for. And most of all, my younger self would’ve never foreseen this coming. I never believed I had a purpose. But the past few months really made me realise that yeah, I do have a purpose. I was diagnosed with IP for a purpose. I was bullied for a purpose, and I got healed for a purpose.

It’s such a surreal thought. I used to be so afraid of sharing my story. But being onstage and doing exactly that is the best feeling ever, and there’s none quite like it. I don’t know where things will head off from here, but all I know is that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And you can too.

Much love,

ABOUT ME

IMG-7908.jpg

Hey there and welcome to my page! I'm Sam and I created this website, The RichMindz Post and aired The RichMindz Podcast (which is available on SpotifySoundCloud and Apple Podcasts) at the beginning of the pandemic when I was 15 years old.

Since this section is about me, I would like to share something about myself so that you can get the chance to know me more if we're in this together.

I was diagnosed with a rare skin condition called Incontinentia Pigmenti (IP) when I was 4 days old. Because of this, I had to undergo a lot ever since a very young age, especially bullying. This helped me reflect on many aspects of life that many of my age don't.

Because of my experiences, I have written and published a book called Teenagers, Wake Up! which is available on Amazon (easily found here as well), and I also started online counseling on this website in the hopes of enlightening and guiding others who find themselves going through tough and difficult times just like how I did. I don't like the feeling of knowing that others are battling things in silence when I can help them.

Sometimes, we can't help ourselves but feel more isolated than before, disconnected from our everyday life, and that's okay. During times like these, life can get really hard to cope with and it's easy to forget that it's important to keep our spirits up, even when mental health should be our number one priority.

Everything I write and discuss here typically links to topics such as health, family, friendships, peer pressure, bullying, relationships, social media and mental health.

Let's get through these tough times together <3

Lots of love,

Sam x

Samantha helped me when I was feeling confused and conflicted in a situation I was facing at the time. Her advice to me was to have faith in myself whenever I have doubts, which really helped me a lot with building self confidence considering I don’t have much of it to begin with. I had many insecurities about how people perceived me and therefore I was never able to fully let my guard down. She taught me that if it’s meant to be, then everything will work out. And that I shouldn’t always have doubt in my mind but instead to believe and trust in others. To take risks even if there’s a chance of failure.

Whenever I encounter something difficult or just anything in general, I would share it with Sam and ask her for some advice because I find that Sam and I are very similar, i.e. our spirit and our perspective on things happening around us. She always brings me power, and she is the one who understands my heart.

I was at my lowest point until I asked her for advice. This gave me a whole different perspective and opened a lot of doors which I never thought I could. Whenever I’m feeling low I always think about her words. It has really stuck with me till now.

Sam’s advice is like a helping hand that pushes you to keep going when you’re unmotivated or just couldn’t support yourself to keep moving on, while also helping you to build on yourself at the same time as you move forward.

The advice you gave me was like "just do it". It has helped me realize that life is about taking risks and not holding back because life is too short to have regrets for not doing a certain thing. Basically just go for it.

Samantha taught and told me to always be myself and to show my true self. She inspires me to be more confident and to never doubt my decisions that I make in life. I’ve had a hard past before and she has always truly been here for me. We gradually got closer and I’m sure that it will keep being like that. I truly hope that we’ll keep in touch after because she has just been a true friend from the start.

When I was feeling so desperate or scared, you have always told me to believe in God and that He will always help us :D

I had a great time talking with you on the podcast. At first I was indeed feeling like I needed to talk to create content (when I kept stuttering in the beginning) but later on I did indeed started feeling more comfortable. I never talked to Sam other than that one time so I had no idea what to expect. But overall, it felt like talking to a friend and that's something I think is the most important part about hosting a podcast.

You gave me life advice and more like love advice most of the time. You are a good friend to talk to and your advice is always useful and supportive. Thanks a lot for being on my side.

OTHER TESTIMONIALS

Recently, I have been visiting schools around town to give talks to teenage students. These talks are based on the various topics I cover here and in my book Teenagers, Wake Up!

Janna

Sam, I came to school today thinking it's going to be the same old day where we go to school. But you came along to our class and it's very inspiring. This 45 minutes helped me so much and I will never forget this day. I hope I will see you again in the future!

Ralph

Thank you for coming today. You are a big inspiration. Keep doing what you're doing. One day, you will change the world. I hope one day I'll be able to help people just like you. Always remember to keep your head up."

Rheyztine

Thank you for a lot of advice. We really love what you did. Thanks for inspiring a lot of teenagers. Continue what you're doing.

We all love you!

Joseph

Your story is amazing. What you did was really inspiring, it's also motivational.

Bianca

Thanks for coming to our school. I can't believe we're the same age and yet you accomplish so much. I'm jealous that you're way ahead in life. Our school doesn't offer a lot of stuff but I've been joining things lately, even when I'm scared. Also, thanks for the book!

Jerry

Thank you.

I learned so much!

Sarah

You are such an inspiration to all of us! I'm really considering taking a break from social media. And I learned that in order to find real friends, you need SELF-LOVE!

Paul

I enjoyed your topic today. I wish I could be like you someday. I will find time  to not use social media in order for me to be  happier. Self-love is my main priority.

Joanna

Thank you so much for taking your time to come here and talk!

You inspire me to go and find myself, to love myself.

Kris

When Sam came to my school today for a talk, I had no idea that this talk would be something I would be interested in. I have really low self-confidence and I try to change myself for other people’s liking just for them to be my “friend.” I’ve always tried to find a way to do self-harm without really “harming” myself. Her story touched so many of us in class. We wouldn’t stop talking about Sam and how her story is just sooo inspiring, and the fact that she's doing whatever she can to reach out to other teens who probably have been through or are going through the same thing she’s been through is just WOW. Thank you so much for what you’ve taught us today. Keep up with what you’re doing!!!

"This book is a must-read for teenagers who are lost or parents who don't know what to do. If you are a teenager, you will be able to relate to the contents, since it was written by a teen. The book gives you talk about life problems and gives you some solutions to them without invalidating them, making you feel like you aren't really alone since it's based on real life. My classmates and I would flip through the pages, see stuff that relates to us and read out the quotes. It was fun yet comforting to read. It's a must-read to any teenager!"

"This book has taught me more than I could ever imagine.

When I read the the names of each chapter I thought I already knew everything there is to know about them. And I guess I was wrong. Honestly love this book 'cause it shows another perspective from another teen and it just amazes me how Sam’s book inspires me and my friends so much.

10/10 recommend reading this book, especially when

you feel like doubting yourself :))"

"This is a book I chose to read with my teenage daughter to help her with recognizing and creating healthy relationships. It covered that and so much more. I'm definitely going to suggest it to others. The concepts are easily understood and puts things in perspective. I'm grateful for the time and experience we shared when reading this book together. This writer is wise beyond her years."

"'Teenagers, Wake Up!' by Samantha de Senna Fernandes is full of home truths and great advice from a teenage writer to other teenagers, on wellbeing, self-love, family, health, mental health, friendships, relationships and social media. Every teenager should read it - and parents will learn a lot too."

"Having a teenager write about her experiences to her counterparts is refreshing. You may not agree with everything but the ideas that Samantha shares will at least challenge your own thinking and actions."

"LOVED IT!!! I really enjoyed this book as a 17-year-old as many of Sam's advice is applicable to my teenage experience, especially her advice on relationships as I was going through a breakup at the time. I particularly appreciated how Sam includes her personal experience with bullying in the book and the way she writes makes it feel as though you are chatting to an old friend rather than reading. 'Teenagers, Wake Up!' also made me reevaluate my values and priorities, I realised the importance of family and the negative impacts alcohol and drugs."
